We offer free legal assistance to people experiencing Gender Based Violence (GBV).
Gender-based violence refers to acts of violence that are harmful to an individual or group of individuals that are based on their gender. It is rooted in gender inequality, abuse of power and the application of harmful principles. The term is used primarily to highlight the fact that structural, gender-based power disparities put women and girls at risk for various forms of violence. While women and girls suffer disproportionately from gender-based violence, men and boys can also be targeted. The term is also sometimes used to describe violence against the LGBTQIA+ community when referring to violence related to masculinity/femininity and/or gender norms.
